Nordic nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B Bluetooth LE SoC from the nRF54L Series

Nordic Semiconductor has announced the expansion of its nRF54L Series with two new entry-level Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) System-on-Chip (SoC) devices: the nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B.

The new devices are designed to support a broader range of cost-sensitive Bluetooth LE applications, enabling developers to build efficient wireless products with ultra-low power consumption and robust connectivity.

Both SoCs can function as the primary wireless SoC in single-chip systems or operate as Bluetooth LE companion devices in multi-chip architectures, leveraging Nordic’s market-leading Bluetooth technology.

New Bluetooth LE SoCs for Efficient and Cost-Optimized Applications

The nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B bring the essential capabilities of the nRF54L Series to entry-level applications, including:

  • Robust Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity

  • Ultra-low power consumption

  • Easy-to-use software development tools

These SoCs are optimized for developing simple and cost-efficient Bluetooth LE products, making them ideal for applications such as:

  • IoT sensors

  • tracking tags

  • Bluetooth beacons

  • remote controls

  • PC peripherals

According to Øyvind Strøm, EVP of Short-Range at Nordic Semiconductor, the new devices aim to provide developers with an accessible starting point.

“With the nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B, we want to give developers an easy and confident starting point. By combining the essential features of our Bluetooth LE SoCs with our easy-to-use software ecosystem, these devices help level the playing field for building lean and cost-sensitive applications.”

Leveraging Nordic’s Bluetooth Development Ecosystem

With the introduction of these entry-level SoCs, developers benefit from the same fully featured and certified Bluetooth LE stack used across the entire nRF54L Series.

This ensures:

  • reliable Bluetooth communication

  • industry-leading interoperability

  • proven performance trusted by thousands of developers worldwide

Developers also gain access to Nordic’s comprehensive development ecosystem, which includes:

  • nRF Connect SDK

  • extensive documentation

  • hands-on online training

  • advanced development tools

Additionally, Nordic’s nRF Cloud services enable secure firmware updates and device management from chip to cloud, simplifying large-scale product deployment.

Key Features of the nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B

The new SoCs offer streamlined memory and peripherals, providing a solid and efficient platform for product development.

Both devices integrate:

  • a 128 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 MCU

  • low-leakage RAM

  • Nordic’s 4th-generation Bluetooth LE radio

  • baseline security features

  • pin-to-pin compatibility with selected devices in the nRF54L Series

Support for Bare Metal development in the nRF Connect SDK and a smooth migration path from the nRF52 Series help accelerate development and simplify transitions to the new architecture.

Both SoCs feature 0.5 MB of non-volatile memory (NVM). However, the nRF54LS05B includes additional RAM to support applications requiring more processing headroom.
